Gynoecium

The gynoecium is composed of the female flower parts. In the image at left, you can see one ovule occupying a locule in the ovary of the flower. Vitis species have two locules each containing two ovules.

The gynoecium also includes a stigma (where the pollen grain lands during pollination) and a style (down which the pollen tube grows to reach the ovule).
