Vascular Tissue System
Important tissues in the vascular tissue system include Xylem, Phloem, and Bundle Sheath. They are slightly different in the blade and the sheath.
Vascular bundles are arranged parallel to each other throughout the whole rice leaf.
Xylem is responsible for transportation of water and minerals in a plant.
Phloem is responsible for the transportation of sugars.
Bundle sheath cells are responsible for loading minerals and sugars absorbed or produced in other parts of the plant to their corresponding locations; it can also serve as a temporary storage.
