This peel shows the surface view of the stomatal apparatus. Note the four subsidiary cells, two guard cells and the aperture in the center. Most tomato stomata are tetracytic, meaning they have four subsidiary cells.

This cross section gives us a side view of the stomatal apparatus. Note the substomatal chamber below the epidemis of the leaf.
